BETH
There once was a girl called Bethany Hay
Who couldn't talk but could only neigh The docs couldn't help She gave out a yelp And she still wasn't cured the next May |
A family who visited Spain
Always went in the pouring rain They jumped in puddles And gave lots of cuddles Some say that this family's not sane |
A Place I Go
A place I go inside my head, a tree Blossom blowing, blushing sweet marshmallows Sugar coated grass tipped with sprinkled dew The silent copse is swaying gracefully Wise old tired branches creak in torment Cracked cobbled path worn down by stamping feet Rough, ancient, crocodile bark, peeling skin A small place that makes me feel cosy The Whiting Shoal
A giant climbing claw Of stone scale fish Spreading open a wide jaw Gliding high a solid wish An arched colliding figure Leaning heads splattered Wriggling tails reaching bigger Scaling skin ripped and tattered Rough holed outer shell Printed wrinkled stone Each separate sculpture fell A marvellous statue shown I Love
I love dancing on the stage turning a Jacqueline Wilson page eating strawberry and raspberry jelly with my feet up watching telly I love the burgers that Mum makes when we're together baking cakes I love the way waves crest and fall One Direction, I love them all Sketching characters from cartoons watching skies with silver moons I love Dad and the way he hugs bubbling hot chocolate in steaming mugs watching the trees blow in the wind hot dogs, specially when they're tinned Shopping for my New Look fashion but dancing, really is my passion. |
Beth
I'm Beth, with eyes like the depth of the forest With delicate, melodic, musical storage I taste the notes on the tip of my tongue My bouncy, springy legs flow fast, here I come I have an out-of-the-box type brain My artistic thoughts, my page is never plain My fingers are mini paint brushes Touching the page and brightening as it brushes This is me and I am Beth With all the things that are in my breath She lies there in the heat
hiding behind shaded glasses soaking up the sweltering sun Dehydrated and dizzy She peeks out and finds a shimmering heat haze rising from the grass roasting in a pool of sweat as clouds part to make a spotlight of clear skies She lies there in the heat hiding behind a shaded window relaxing in front of glowing embers cosy and warm She peeks out through curtains to see swirling autumn leaves drowning in puddles of October rain as clouds cover to make roaring winds Christmas time is drawing near
Advent calendars appear Christmas music, here and there Glammed up in my party wear lots of Christmas things to do Carollers sing for me and you Toffees give me cavities Annual nativities Writing out a Christmas list Sending cards to friends I've missed Sitting with my family Admiring the Christmas tree Unwrapping new gifts and treats As snow falls gently on the street |
